Videoteoksessani olen etsinyt internetin kuvahakua käyttäen, raamatun kappaleeseen The Way of Love (Suurin on rakkaus: 1. Korint. 13) jokaista sanaa vastaavan kuvan. Kollaasimaisessa teoksessa näyttäytyy otos nykyhetkeä, jonka taustamusiikkina toimii The Wipers yhtyeen versio kappaleesta The Way of Love. Käsittelen totuuskäsityksen rakentumista ja tiedon olemusta ja vaikutusta käsityksiimme maailmasta ja todellisuudesta. Vertaan raamatun merkitystä sanoilla rakentuvana puhtaan tiedon ja totuuden välittäjänä internetin moninaiseen kuvatulvaan. Tutkailen myös suhdetta tietoon, sitä miten eri perustoihin nojaaminen vaikuttaa tiedon arvottamiseen ja vastaanottamiseen. Tiedolla on lähtökohdallinen suhde uskomiseen, jonka sisältö on sidoksissa erilaisiin ajassa muuttuviin tiedon tuottamisjärjestelmiin. Tarkastelemalla paikalleen pysähdytetyn ja alati muuttuvan tiedon käsitettä, pohdin erilaisia epäilyn ja uskomisen strategioita, ja minkälaista maailmankuvaa se rakentaa.
I’ve constructed 'Way of love' so that every image has been downloaded from the Internet using a search engine and by matching every word from the bible's verse 'The way of love' (1 Corinthians 13) with an image that the engine search provided. That way the work becomes a collage of images all linked together with their seemingly direct representation of certain word. A vast spectrum is created that laconically produces an interpretation of the meaning of love. It also comments the way of searching knowledge and truth. The random search engine brings images of the world that we live in this moment. We have become used to question the information that we find. In comparison with the bibles purpose of explaining everything- the thought emerges- what is the truth and what we expect from it.
